WELCOME
St. Theresa School, a Catholic parish school in the Archdiocese of Newark, is dedicated to the cultivation of academic excellence and the spiritual and social enrichment of each student. Through the implementation of the educational system of Saint John Bosco, a caring faculty utilizes reason, religion, and loving kindness, to develop each student to his/her full potential. With Christ as the example, the Saint Theresa Community grows in a family atmosphere in which each individual experiences respect, challenge, responsibility and exceptional love.

GOALS
Because a school’s commitment to excellence demands a constant review of its program and goals, St. Theresa School continues to reevaluate and assess our goals as set forth in our Middle States plan. To fulfill our goal of preparing our students for the Third Millennium, we have recognized the importance of technology, therefore, we have furnished our school with a computer lab consisting of 30 computers, all with internet access. We have also installed computers with internet access in each of our classrooms, and increased the number of weekly computer classes for grades 1-8. We have also provided our Faculty with the in-service training necessary for integrating technology into the curriculum.

To enable students to become more knowledgeable of God’s Word, we begin each morning assembly reading from the Word of God and we require that all students in grades 4-8 have their own Bible so that Scripture can be prayed and explained in the various religion classes.

To help students appreciate and further develop individual talents, we have initiated our “Stars of the Week” Program in which different students are recognized. Our Staff seeks to develop students’ gifts and talents in the classroom and through after-school activities which include sports, drama, forensics, music, student government.

FUTURE GOALS
In continuation of our efforts to prepare our students for the challenges of the technological age, we will further integrate technology into the curriculum by continuing to provide our teachers with the training necessary to ensure that technology become a viable tool in the educational process. We will also fully automate our library to improve access and utilization by both students and parents.

Conscious that we live in a “global village”, we recognize the importance of learning a World Language at a young age; therefore, we will institute a Spanish Language Program for all students beginning in grade 1.

Realizing that modern technology and better means of communication have inundated our lives with a wealth of information, the faculty recognizes the need to help our students become critical thinkers. We will explore strategies for teaching critical thinking and implement such strategies throughout the curriculum.
Through a series of workshops, students, teachers and parents will also be instructed on how to view mass media with a critical eye.

Finally, believing that the New Millennium is a call to greater faith in the Person of Jesus Christ, we will seek to provide more opportunities for students to recognize Jesus in His Word, in Sacrament, and in service to one another.
