It certainly was a week to remember and cherish for the rest of our lives.
Pope Benedict XVI encouraged us to continue to grow in our faith. He was grateful for "the many memorable experiences of American hospitality." Large numbers of people came to see him and hundreds of thousands of people throughout the United States watched the special liturgies on television. What an opportunity for us to be blessed by his presence. During the Pope's Mass at Yankee Stadium, he said quoting from the First Letter Of Peter, Chapter two, Verse seven: "Happy are you who believe! "Let us turn to Jesus! He alone is the way that leads to eternal happiness, the truth who satisfies the deepest longings of every heart, and the life who brings ever new joy and hope, to us and to our world. Amen." As I mentioned at our Sunday Liturgies last week, "Isn't it great to be Catholic! This week let us continue to pray for the Church and take advantage of the many opportunities we have to share our faith story with others. |
