Dear Parishioners, The great thing about “Spiritual Gifts” is that everybody has at least one. Some people have more than one, but we all have at least one special spiritual ability given to us by the Holy Spirit. What is the purpose of a “Spiritual Gift?” The purpose of a spiritual gift is simple. A spiritual gift is given to each of us as a means of helping the entire Church. In the First Letter of Paul to the Corinthians, Chapter 12, verse 7, Paul tells us: “The Holy Spirit displays God’s power through each of us as a means of helping the entire Church.” The Apostle Paul compares the church to a human body, which needs all of its parts to function. Just as our bodies need every part to function effectively, so too the Church depends on all its members to use their spiritual special gifts to build the “Body of Christ” in the Church. Last weekend Sister Monique mentioned the importance of Religious Education in our parish and asked for volunteers to help in our Religious Education Program. We all have special talents and abilities. Let us reflect during the week on what special gift we can use to help make the Body of Christ a stronger presence in our Church and community. God Bless You, |
