Born in 1873, Theresa Martin of Lisieux, France entered the Carmelite convent at the age of 15 declaring, "I want to be a saint." She led a very humble life in the convent, but said, "After my death, I will let fall a shower of roses. I will spend my heaven doing good on earth." Since her death at age 24, her intercession accompanied by roses or the scent of roses has brought blessings and miracles to many. Canonized a saint in 1925, Pope John Paul II declared her a "Doctor of the Church" in 1997 because of her spiritual legacy. -Society of the Little Flower, Darien IL To go to St. Theresa's Parish Web Site please click the link below. |
