The final dream was realized when on March 18, 1967, Archbishop Thomas A. Boland officiated at the dedication of the new church and rectory. It was Father McVeigh, our first Pastor that made the dream of the school and church start. It was under Father Hennessey, our second pastor, that the church building was completed and an emphasis was placed on solidifying the "family" at St. Theresa's. We saw the "Theresians" - a family Sports Club start which promoted volleyball, tennis, golf and paddle ball. The Kenilworth Karnival was started. It was a week-long event held before Labor Day, complete with a town wide parade!! It was during Fr. Hennessey's years that the CYO's "Coronation Ball" was started and run, each year awarding a king and queen and handing out scholarships to students for college. After Fr. Hennessey, St. Theresa's was led by its third pastor, Fr. Jensen. Father Jensen was always a lover of music and used to have his very own organ in his room that he played. It was for him that our parish's concert series - The Jensen Concert Series - is named. |
Finally in 1993 our current pastor, Fr. Joe Bejgrowicz was assigned to St. Theresa's. In the past six years since his assignment he has been instrumental in many things including the refurbishing of the church's pipe organ, the two shrines in church - St. Jude and St. Theresa, starting "The Hennessey Golf Classic" and Parish Picnic, having a new Tabernacle placed in the church, decorating the church with the manger and the many seasonal displays, seeing "The McVeigh Lecture Series" and "The Jensen Concert Series" come into reality and prosper, and starting a successful Youth Ministry Program.
